Reservoir 4

Net Head: 285ft
Rated Output: 188kW

The Reservoir project is a multiple stage vertical variable flow Francis turbine which effectively limits the outlet pressure and also regulates flow as it enters the nearby water storage tank. This particular turbine drops the upstream pressure from 175psi at its inlet all the way down to 6.5psi on the downstream or discharge side of the turbine by utilizing multiple stages. Flow through the turbine can varied based on the required demand set by the water district by actuating its variable wicket gates. This turbine is plumbed in parallel to a Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) and can switch back and forth seamlessly between PRV valve operation and turbine operation automatically.
